i just picked up menomena's "friend or foe." the music is really cool and experimental, just the way i like it.
but, even if you don't particularly like the music, i recommend purchasing the record just for the album art. it's the most phenomenal thing i've seen in a very long time. i find myself just staring at it for minutes, shifting the cd around in the case to see what shows through on the outside cover and trying to decipher all of the cultural/biblical references in all of the intricate drawings. it's pretty amazing, but don't take my word for it- go buy the album! (it's a lovely procrastination tool for all of those who don't feel like doing their homework, i'd know from experience...)
My two most recent acquisitions: the new Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds album and the new Murder By Death. Upon listening to the former, I am convinced the only constant in life is Nick Cave being a twisted mofo. I haven't listened to the MBD yet but I'm looking forward to it.

Other than the obvious Pershing, I've recently picked up Jason Anderson's recent "Vinyl-only" - The Hopeful and the Unafraid. I'm trying desperately not to run out each day and buy more music like some kind of audio addict.
