is it leaked? i thought it didn't come out until june 3rd. i've only just discovered the video a few days ago and was like ...wait i thought they broke up 2 years ago. wait dumb question, of course its leaked. i can only find file packages with 8 tracks as opposed to 10
but yea, i was a hugehuge weezer dork for so many years. i was so disappointed when beverly hills was released as the first song for make believe <ugh> but pork and beans is an amazing step up despite its simplicity. i look forward to hearing the red album. how do you like it?

i just got ahold of the album. i've only listened to it once, i still need to give it a few more goes to make a better decision on it. i liked it the first time around.
make believe wasn't THAT bad of an album. my problem was i only liked half of the album and loathed the other half. ok, it was kind of bad. i'm still indifferent towards red still.

Any other reviews on the Red album? Its weird but Weezer's albums have been kind of progressively worse. Maybe not in that order, but the Blue album is my favorite and Pinkerton and the Green are pretty close. Make Believe was completely unremarkable and I wasn't a fan of Maladroit either. I think the reason could be because of the lineup changes--I liked the original lineup, especially Matt Sharpe.
By the way, this is my first non-SSLYBY post!

i agree with you. i think the green album is okay but not close to pinkerton or the blue album. maladroit was okay too. there is nothing worth listening to after those albums.

Red is aight.
Am I the only weezer fan who thought Maladroit was pretty good? Obviously, Pinkerton and Blue are untouchable, but I thought Maladroit was better than Green. I also enjoyed voting on songs and what not during the period it was being recorded.

maladroit was okay. I thought it was pretty even (maybe a little better) with green. it was nothing compared to blue and pinkerton though.

I would take green over Maladroit, but I may not be the best judge. With both Maladroit and Make Believe were two albums I only listened to once or twice.
I was completely disappointed with Make Believe. People who would have never listened to Weezer in their life were telling me how much they liked Weezer based on listening to "Beverly Hills" which is one of their worst singles ever.
So far, I've only heard "Pig" which wasn't bad and "Pork and Beans" which I disliked. I may have only disliked "Pork and Beans" because I hate the title and video.

I heard the red album for the first time yesterday. It was just as bad as make believe, in my opinion. There was one song that was pretty good but totally unlike old weezer.

That's ashamed. By the way, I like your quote from Bottlerocket, one of my all time favorite movies.

I don't think its as bad as make believe. make believe was a piece of crap and I actually agreed with pitchfork for the first time when they gave it a .4 out of 10. its so hard to listen to weezer when you know nothing they do will ever be as good as the blue album or pinkerton but they are still one of my favorite bands because of those CDs.

I wanted to check out the home recordings, but I haven't gotten around to it. I really don't know what happened to Weezer. Maybe it was the lineup changes, I don't know. I remember how awesome the Blue album was, then Pinkerton was a change, but it really grew on me. The Green Album was a little more mainstream then their earlier stuff (the hit a low selling the rights to their song "Island in the Sun" to a Mary Kate & Ashley movie). Since then there music has been really ...not good. I don't know what else to say other than their last few albums have been completely unremarkable. If they hadn't made their first three albums and started with Maladroit, they probably wouldn't have gotten signed.

ahhhhhhhhh the mary kate and ashley movie, I had forgotten about that. wowow that was definitely the worst. and I thought the home recordings were kind of lame and contrived but I did like the early version of buddy holly. I just read the article about them in spin magazine which made me want to like the red album, but it just isnt that good.
