I'll hold off on taking the time off work until Monday so we have the weekend to figure out what we can.

My friend and I were seriously considering going to the library show.
I just don't know if I should wait to see what the fall and winter holds though.

I just don't know if I should wait to see what the fall and winter holds though. The guys have been touring a lot and last I talked to them, they were kinda pooped. They were going to have a college tour in november (which they were going to do last year!) but they've toured so much recently that i think they're going to take a much needed break through the winter. Don't quote me, I mean they could have some spare local shows but I think they wanna lay low for a little. I could be wrong though. I'm hoping Europe is being nice to them and that they're not getting anything stolen or nothing. p.s. good luck on the PSAT, that's probably a little worth while in the long run.

Thanks. I figured after a full summer and then the European tour there won't be very much besides November. But they mentioned they might come close to where I am in November, so I can't decide if I should just wait or not.
Thanks for the luck!

Yea, it's understandable. I'd love it if you could make it out (right now i think this might be the only time i'll be venturing to the midwest), but if not, we'll document it for you.
I told my mom I was going because I thought at the age of 20 and my responsible track record led me to believe I could tell her where I'm going without having to lie and we could discuss this maturely. But she just shouted NO at me over and over again...sooo I might be killed when I come back from the trip haha

"No" for what reason? It's the MIDWEST! You're not going to get murdered. Well... you're flying into Detroit... But the Midwest is known for stereotypical kindness! Sure, it can get cold, but you'd be visiting a few weeks before the usual start of blizzard season.

I have a very overprotective mother. Me meeting SSLYBY has been my mom's worse nightmare. Before them, I had never taken a train, bus, cab, plane, or subway on my own. I used to lie about where I was going, then tell her later...now she's okay with me going into NYC alone and driving outside of the state n stuff, but it's hard getting her to agree with me about these things. I kind of just have to ignore her and go anyway.

That tends to happen with children of overprotective parents.

That tends to happen with children of overprotective parents. Yea, but I'm always really responsible about everything I do. I just wish she could understand that. Pssh I lied and told her Sara was picking me up from the airport because if she heard a boy's name, I'd have to endure another painstaking rape lecture.

Detroit is sorta dangerous but the airport is cool. No worries. your mom sounds funny

Yea, I know Detroit is and hey, I'll also be having a transfer in Atlanta, GA as well I'm assuming the terminals will be teeming with security anyways. P.S. Booked my flights...there is no going back now. It's official. Should I bring my tambourine?

Detroit gets fun because apparently we had a bomb threat there today! Yay!
Oh, just a forewarning, while the weather in the area is likely going to be cooler by the time of the trip, my car doesn't have working air conditioning (when I drove across the Salt Lake last May, it was death...).

Yes, bring the tamborine. I'm very much looking forward to this trip. Very much. Very.
Just got to talk to my boss and co-worker on Monday to make sure it's okay for me to leave work early on Thursday afternoon Oct 16th. I'm supposed to work till 4:30pm and at my fastest wouldn't be there till 7pm. Don't want to miss that library show. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll get off.
Yeah, I don't ever tell my Dad where I'm going. My Mom doesn't care, but my Dad is very protective and doesn't care I'm an adult, he still feels responsible for me since I'm not married. While I'm still in school and in debt he feels like I shouldn't be going anywhere and spending any money. Bah. Even if you're in school and debt, you still need to have at least a small life.

I agree Sarahw, life's gotta be interesting. Without adventure, what are we? Whenever people ask me why I do some things, I don't know what to say to them....because I'm living? Because I'm young? Because in 10 years I'll most likely have a full time job and kids and might not be able to experience the things I want to experience now? so yeah....right on! detroit bomb threat=oh boy. It's typical.

I never said the bomb threat was unusual, just that it was more fun. It's the kind of thing an overprotective mother wants to hear. "I'm flying into Detroit." Next day on the news "Bomb threat at Detroit Airport".
I've often been asked why I do this or that. No one ever tells me why I need a reason.

A friend of mine might come down to one or both shows. Either with me or on his own. His work is getting ready to transfer him to CA or IL in November, so he's usually in one of those states during the work week, but there's a possibility he might be able to get away.
I've started to get him hooked on the band and he'd love to see them before he moves. It'll probably be a last minute thing if he ends up coming.
