Wow that Mixtape Muse review was really lovely . Incidentally, I read all the reviews Pitchfork did on the three SSLYBY records. They pretty much pissed me off.

The album gets better and better, I think. Really love it.
I just feel the urge to listen to it again (and again).
Think Back In The Saddle is the best thing they've ever done.

nowavefanzine.blogspot.com/2010/08/do-you-like-boris.htmlI like it when reviewers use lots of adjectives and point out little tidbits of almost every track, not just a few. I like it when they write both passionately and sincerely, but let themselves get carried away a bit in describing how the sounds on the album make them feel. I like it when they aren't afraid to admit that a part bored them or wasn't memorable, but they don't let that overthrow all the beauty they saw.

Oh my gosh, someone needs to record this off their computer and edit the acoustic tracks and then put it up in the Tape Club forum. I might try this weekend. Beautiful, beautiful live acoustic versions of "Animalkind" and "Everlyn": www.swift.fm/YNotRadio/song/66432/

" you’ll never miss the ramshackle nature of Broom"
WRONG

It's funny, Let It Sway has actually led to my better love and appreciation of Broom. I know it sounds cheesy, but I love Broom more and more all the time without loving Pershing any less. Let It Sway sort of bridges the gap between the two of them for me. It's probably because Let It Sway has some darker places in it that Pershing did not, plus it had some lighter/more exuberant places that Broom did not. On the second listen-thru of Let It Sway I suddenly felt like I'd never understood the band's sound clearly before and all of a sudden I did, like they'd gone from 2D to 3.

I feel like they have a generally defined sound (really catchy songs) and each album is a portrait of the band at that period in time in which it was written and recorded

The boys play three songs for this program. I especially love this one because 1. they're all there, the 4 of them, instead of just John and Phil, or Will and Phil, which is okay, but I like it better when I can hear all of them, as I have never seen them live. 2. They played Made to Last, and the last few seconds are just as magical as it is on the record. minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/2010/11/03/someone-still-loves-you-boris-yeltsin-live/I hope someone can rip this for the Tape Club.

I really wish the last MPR session they did was still up. There was a really good version of Dead Right. One of my faves.
