Took some footage Christmas Eve for a friends' music video, but my Internet connection was slow, so I could only get a tiny bit of it to him in time. Most of what I took featured my sister's cat Toby, so made it into a video with the only song that is remotely appropriate. *winkwink* www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUICTY74RqgThe footage of my brother playing accordion the day after Christmas he has no idea I took.

today i got back from a weekend long field trip to a resort in the Catskills where NYSTEA (a theater workshop thing) was hosted. it was so fun. saturday was the probably the most fun because there was a crazy dance party going on for hours and i don't think i got off the dance floor once. i am exhausted though because i only got 2 hours of sleep both nights.

Haha, everyone longs for the days when they were younger and didn't have as many cares.
Last week I started helping on the techie/design/content team for the main website as well as social network homepages for a Harry Potter convention that's happening in Orlando next year. We're super busy getting ready to go live but it's a lot of fun. The keyboard and mouse pad on my 1 1/2 year old laptop decided to die, so I bought some external ones and am in the middle of rearranging my apartment so I can actually use my computer at my desk. Books everywhere.

In November I'll be attending Wrockstock for the 4th year in a row. It's 3 days of wizard rock shows and fun at a camp in southeast Missouri I applied to join the staff this year and got my acceptance letter on Tuesday. I'm on the stage crew There's a ton of bands and I'll be doing lots of roadie type stuff. It's going to be tough, but I'm excited!

They name their bands after characters or things in the Harry Potter books. They write songs from the viewpoint of characters in the books AND/OR their own viewpoint about their experiences reading the books or being a part of the HP fandom. There have been several hundred wizard rock (or wizrock or wrock) bands over the years. I'd say less than 100 have performed live or put out albums. The more successful wizard rock bands were musicians in other bands (or studied music in school) before their love of the Harry Potter books and fandom community prompted them to start writing Harry Potter-related songs. Here's more about it: wizrocklopedia.com/the-history-of-wizard-rock/Some of the bands always perform in character - like Harry and the Potters. It was at a Harry and the Potters show in St. Louis in March 2007 where I first heard Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin play. SSLYBY was opening for them and even though Harry and the Potters had their own drummer, Phil played drums for them on several songs as the character Charlie Weasley. The last Harry and the Potters song all the SSLYBY guys dressed up like Weasley brothers and performed with them. Grace Bentley was Hermione Granger playing the keyboard. I thought the whole thing was so cool that I started following SSLYBY's funny MySpace blogs and listening to their music. And the rest is history.

Went to a couple wizard rock parties this weekend and had some house guests, including one that doesn't leave till tomorrow - an 18 year-old college freshman from Florida that had never seen snow before. He was hilarious on the trip pointing out every frozen pond and falling snowflake.
Haven't had much sleep and I've been driving a lot (to Oklahoma City and back!) but had a really great time and got to meet the brother of one of my wizard rock performer friends - and a bunch of their co-workers too. They'd never been to a wizard rock show so it was quite the experience.
