What's the best SSLYBY show you've had the pleasure of seeing? My favorite was about two years ago, when they played an outdoor acoustic set at Artsfest on Walnut Street in Springfield. It was a beautiful day, I could understand most of the words, and the set got hijacked by a roving mariachi band. Good times.

er, i'm sort of new to the band..discovered them in january but out of the three shows i've gone to, i have to vote for when i first heard them as they opened for harry and the potters at asbury lanes, that show ruled and will cooked pancakes on stage and fed the crowd.

So, it would have to be the one I didn't see. Great setlist.

Well, I got to see them in Grand Rapids a few weeks ago. I just happened to see they were playing a few days before they were. I went wearing a Catbird Records shirt, which caught their attention and talked to Phil a bit before the show. Chin Up Chin Up was suppose to be playing as well, but couldn't make it so it essentially became a SSLYBY show. During the show, they dedicated I Am Warm and Powerful to me because of of the shirt. Near the end, Phil was jumping off speakers and ended up spilling John's coffee. That was pretty funny. I got to talk to Phil and John some more after the show when buying a shirt (They had forgotten the CDs, luckily I already had it). They're really great guys.
I'm going to see them again on the 31st when they're back in town. I managed to get one friend so far to come with me, hopefully I can get more.

Only show of theirs I've ever been to, and the one Meghan is talking about: when they opened for HatP. I fell in love immediately, and come on, seriously, Will cooking chocolate chip pancakes on stage is awesome. Everyone just had such a strong stage presence, and the music was just... wow. I had never heard of them before that but I felt like... I don't even know. It was amazing.
Plus their cover of Crazy was intense. lol.

Last night in Columbia they were the best I've seen them out of 4 shows. They totally played Anne Elephant for an encore. It was great. The crowd was really feeling the whole set, especially Modern Mystery.

anytime they play Mr. Wendal like HOB in San Diego is currently my favorite because JRC had a cold and didn't sing at all - and Philip did all the singing so you get a very different set list than normal.

Well, I've only seen them once, in Houston a month ago, and it was pretty great.
Got me a shirt, and people constantly as what "SSLYBY" is supposed to mean.
I just tell them that it's a tribute to the recently deceased Boris Yeltsin.

I saw them last January opening for Harry and the Potters (that's also how I discovered the band) and they kicked ass. John Robert wasn't even there, though, but Grace filled in I guess.
Their last song was I Wanna Hold Your Hand. Had the whole crowd singing along.

The only one I've been to. About 15 days ago at the Echo, it was amazing to say the least.

I had a wonderful time at their Rocheport, Missouri show last night. It was at the outdoor stage at a winery. There was a cliff and the Missouri River behind them. It was beautiful, and the sound was excellent. I think they played almost all of their released songs. Phil even did a rap for the encore - Mr. Wendell.
People sat around on picnic benches under trees and sipped wine and ate "picnic" dinners. Most people were dressed up - so it was a bit different of an atmosphere. I met one of the board members, Sara, there and the second half of the show we got some of the other women to dance with us in front of the stage. It was pretty funny to see these 30 and 40 something women in their dresses and heels, with their wine glasses in hand, dancing. There was even an old guy who was doing some sort of tango or ballroom dancing during one of the songs. It was the first time I've actually stood right in front of the stage and danced at a SSLYBY show. I tried not to sing too much since I'm still fighting bronchitis, but every once in awhile when I was singing one of the band members would glance at me and I'd get all embarassed and stop.
I took a few pictures and videos which I hope to post somewhere when I have good Internet access again. (I'm on light-weight cable Internet and can't upload or download very well.)
Most crazy thing ever happened at the very end of the show. Will gently threw his guitar into the air into the drum set. Everyone sort of gasped.

The venue had an awesome backdrop... And then someone else was getting a photo with the four guys, so I somehow was lucky enough to sneak in a photo with them as well.

These were taken with my digital camera, so the quality isn't great. Watch them in "high quality" if you can. HEERS www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWMVtqh84KgModern Mystery www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrXpDrfQNLkI also have a video of them covering "Kiss Kiss Molly's Lips," but my Internet connection is really bad right now and its taking me about an hour to upload these.
