hey you guys! this one hasn't gotten a lot of attention, but i think throw me the statue's new album creaturesque is quiet nice. i love their ponderous lyrics coupled with scott reitherman's understated vocals. creaturesque is all fun pop and quirky synths. here's the music video for hifi goon>> www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ks17lYqXBM&feature=player_embedded
If you've never heard them before I suggest starting off with their six Daytrotter.com songs, then pick up Bitte Orca and Rise Above. There's a lot going on in their songs. Sometimes it sounds like creative organized chaos - it can catch you off guard. But there's something exhilarating and quite liberating in the unexpectancy of whether you're going to get an oriental or African or jazz or punk or shoegaze-like sound next. It's all this and more and sometimes multiple at once.
Um, I've been listening to a lot of The Wombats because they make me smile. I literally listened to one of their songs (School Uniforms) 20 or 30 times while I was doing my homework. (It greatly improves math.)
I'm listening to "The Mistress" by Yellow Ostrich, "The Valley" by Eisley, "The Suburbs" by Arcade Fire, "12 Desperate Straight Lines" by Telekinesis, and "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky (Extra Nice Edition)" by Ok Go.
