For those of you who own both the band's original release of Broom and the Polyvinyl re-release of Broom: Are there any differences between the two?
I own the original version of Broom and really love it. As I was listening to it this afternoon, I started wondering what the re-release had done--other than give it a much wider distribution.
Thanks

I used to have both. Some songs I couldn't tell the difference at all, but it was noticeable on Anna Lee and Anne Elephant. I wish I still had it to go back and listen. I think vocals were more muffled for one...if that's possible

I have the original and I think it's different....they did some pitch adjusting on Anna Lee and Anne Elephant and I think muffled the drums at certain parts and turned them up louder at others. But, I'm a sucker for lo-fi and I feel like the vocals are very real and accompanied by warm feeling that isn't so apparent in the polyvinyl version....I like the original, unmixed version better than the Polyvinyl one.

I've gotsta concur. The original, unmastered Broom has a charm unchallenged in the delightful and somewhat rare spectrum of modern, brilliant albums.
