I don't have a record player, and sadly there's not an inch to spare here for another piece of electronics. I'll have to find an excuse to drive the two hours to my parents' house to borrow theirs Haha, Sara. I noticed that lone person without a last name credited on the album. VERRRY cool. What does it mean by "laurel" bike? Is Laurel a type of bike or a street or something? Laurel is the name of her friend. lol i feel weird answering this

The college towns have 'em, as do the larger cities. Grand Rapids has at least nine colleges in the area and is the second largest city in Michigan, so there are hipsters there by default. Detroit area has them depending on where you are. I wouldn't be surprised if Ann Arbor or Lansing didn't have a healthy number. Especially Ann Arbor. Chicago has just about everything so that doesn't really count. Ohio... I'd guess Cleveland and Toledo may have some, Columbus is another strong contender. South of that though, there's just too strong a population of Southerners that were making the move North (before the jobs disappeared). So Cincinnati, and even as far North as Dayton, I'd say the hipster population is smaller. Throughout, there's probably a good number of scenesters as need be though.
(This comes from living in Ohio and Michigan most of my live, although the past 10 years have been in Michigan so my Ohio data is more guessing.)
We're in the Northern Midwest so we do have more than corn. Mainly snow.

Haha, I have no idea what hipsters and scenesters are. I guess that shows I don't go to clubs much. And I'd just assumed those record photos were Will, John, and Phil from top to bottom, but of course they're fuzzy and mostly from the back, so it's hard to tell otherwise

Ah ok, so there's a good chance there might be a good number of them at whichever sslyby show i go to over there. no problem, i've danced like an idiot in philadelphia at shows. i'm pretty sure they have the most pretentiousness over there.
Anywho, really need to put money in my checking account to purchase this 7"

They are everywhere but I would say the hipsters in Detroit and the surrounding areas aren't quite as bas as Chicago....man when I go to Chicago, I feel like I'm being stared at for clapping! I go to Michigan State and I gotta say that it isn't that bad here....I live in the residential area for artsy fartsy stuff and it's more like suburb kids turned imaginative than anything else.....but yah they're everywhere, at any show, ready to look at you and think you're stupid for having a good time dancing. We'll show em Meghan!

Hipsters are the worst in LA! I'll go to a show and no one even moves, it's ridiculous. The scene kids are the ones that really bug me though. They don't even go for the music, just to be seen out. I'm pretty fed up with LA's music scene (not with the bands, but the "scene"). After I graduate I will moving far, far away.

Hipsters here are sorta bad. I just get really annoyed at people that try too hard to look exactly the same as all the other hipsters.
That's why I was totally jamming front row at the SSLYBY show, surrounded by hipsters that didn't know the words to any of the songs and didn't even know what the guys looked liked.

does not dancing at a concert automatically make you a hipster? No, not dancing doesn't automatically categorize someone as such. I think we all have different ideas of what annoys us or makes us feel like someone isn't genuine and I think that's what we're all trying to pinpoint in people. I'm not trying to judge people here....someone can be whomever they wish to be.... but I do tend to feel a trend of insincerity among the music scene. It's not just that people don't dance, or think people that do dance are stupid, it's that there is no originality to these said individuals, they are what is in, they are whatever their friends are, and they tend to not truly mean what they say and honestly judge others who aren't like them. That last part is what gets me. I'm definitely not saying I'm ms. perfect nor am I inferring anyone is, but long story short, there's going to be some people out in the world who are insincere and not genuine. That's at least what I think I mean.

Sadly I didn't dance at all the last SSLYBY show I attended. I leaned against the wall near the least smokey spot and tried not to pass out from either sleep deprivation or smoke inhalation. I do much better at Sat shows when I've gotten to sleep in instead of having to be at work before dawn. Stupid work schedule.

Yeah, I totally didn't mean that. You can dance or not dance, but as long as you are there for the band and not just to be seen.
