I just got an email from Will about their stint in europe. Here's what he had to say:
"This was the first time that we've headlined a tour, and on top of that, in germany there is usually no other band on the bill, so we found ourselves in need of playing our longest and
most rocking set ever. after the first couple of days we were scrambling to re-learn old songs we hadnt played in a while, and by the end of the tour were playing just about everything we knew. our usual setlist on a good night went somethinig like this:
Anna Lee
Pangea
Warm and Powerful
Boring Fountain
What'll We Do
Oregon Girl
Travel Song
YR Broom
House Fire
Modern Mystery
Lower The Gas Prices Howard Johnson
You Could Write a Book
Deadright
Not Worth Fighting
Half Awake (Deb)
Mr. Wendell
Let's Get Tired
The Oceanographer
ENCORE
Gwyneth
We Can Win Missouri
Accident
Anne Elephant
SECOND ENCORE (sometimes)
I Wanna Hold Your Hand
or
Molly's Lips
or
Random Nirvana Song
it was nice playing some of those broom songs again since we hadnt played some in a year or so. it also opened up the chance for us to do something we'd always wanted to try, and which we did at WaterRats in London when we opened for the Thermals and only had half an hour to play: We played Broom from start to finish in the order of the CD.
and that was the whole show.
we also tried to play Glue Girls in sound check a few times but it always threw us off, which is funny because we used to open with that on our first tour last February 06 when we were way worse.
the shows were either a really big hit or a really big miss. our best shows were in Munich, London (the first one in london), Berlin, both outdoor fesitivals, and Hamburg."
