Her name is written on the back of Phil's chair. If you mean the piano chair, then that's in Will's family's house. You'll also see "Mary" painted there. I could be wrong, but I assume that's M. Grace Bentley. Grace & Gwyn wasn't just an EP. The two are cousins and had a band. I've also long assumed they were the two girls that attended Wharf/SSLYBY rehearsals in the story Phil tells sometimes when people ask him how the band got their name. But that's just a guess on my part. I'm pretty sure I've put up a link to this article before, but I don't remember where. It's dated Feb 6, 2004 and is about SSLYBY's first EP(the split with Grace & Gwyn) & the accompanying EP release show: entertainment.news-leader.com/weekend/_archive/0206-BorisYelts-4682.htmlP.S. Back then Randy Bacon's was a little further east down the street in what is now a two-room coffee shop/cafe.

There is a really old picture there. I guess Will wasn't in the band yet.

Well he was up in the KC area going to school at the time. Will (guitar), Phil (guitar, vocals), Tom (bass), Kevin (drums) were the original members of the band.

Oh, okay. I know John Rob and Phil didn't meet until college, and SSLYBY started with Phil joining Wharf basically.

Too true. They bounced around a lot between a 3 piece, 4 piece and 5 piece. Will went to college so they were down to a 3, then John joined so they were back to a 4. Kevin got busy with high school so they dropped to 3 and Phil started drumming. Chris (lead guitar) and girlfriend Lauren (keyboards) joined so they were up to 5. Early 2004 they recorded Grace & Gwyn. Will came back and Chris & Lauren got married, so the band was back to 4. They recorded Broom Sept 2004-Mar 2005 and Jonathan helped (mixing plus "additional parts"). Tom went to college so Jonathan started filling in summer 2005 as the 4th member. You can see on Polyvinyl's SSLYBY webpage that sometimes other people filled in as well. For instance I saw an awesome video of Warren Sandwell playing drums with them once. First time I saw SSLYBY in Mar 2007 they were a fivesome - the current 4 plus Grace on keyboards. Summer 2007 when they played in Russia you can see Tom back on bass temporarily.
My apologies if any of this info isn't right. It's mainly from an interview Nick Held did with Phil.

I'm pretty sure most of that info is right. I've only seen them once in May '07 in Houston on the Mute Math tour. There were like 3 people who were singing along to their songs.
I used to have a picture of Phil in a Catbird shirt jumping off the stage in Russia as my desktop wallpaper.....I wonder if I still have that
