Maybe lyrics need their own thread. Anyhow, here are more complete lyrics to Phantomwise. Words in regular color are 100% SSLYBY. Words in Red color are from the acrostic poem at the end of Lewis Carroll's Through The Looking Glass: www.gutenberg.org/catalog/world/readfile?fk_files=785821&pageno=76Still she haunts me, phantomwise, Alice moving under skies Never seen by waking eyes. She dies Still she haunts me, phantomwise, A boat beneath a sunny sky An evening of July -- Autumn frosts have slain July. Still she haunts me, phantomwise,Getting sick of the way that I feel Getting sick of these thoughts that aren't real You can't have you can't have you can't have me back You can't have you can't have you can't have me back She's mine She's mine tonight In a Wonderland she lies, Dreaming as the days go by, Dreaming as the sunlight dies: Still she haunts me, phantomwise,Getting sick of the way that I feel Getting sick of these thoughts that aren't real You can't have, you can't have, you can't have me back You can't have, you can't have, you can't have me back Ooo ooo... Ooo ooo... She's mine She's mine tonight She's mine She's mine tonight

No worries, we won't be using video chat. We'll just be typing to each other while listening to all the songs together at the exact same moment. That way we can "talk" without talking over the music. We might pause after every or every other song to let people grab drinks or get queued back up or whatever so one person doesn't fall behind.

I'm loading the new album onto my album onto my ipod, going to listen to it in the dark after I take my shower.

Is it me or does Animalkind sound like an older song? Like one of the haircut songs. I think someone said something about it.

I'm listening to the new record in the office, and I can't concentrate on what I'm writing, because the songs demand my full attention. haha. The songs sound more complex now (for me at least, but does anyone feel the same way?). I just want to go home and listen to this record with loud speakers so I can dance around the room. haha

Yes, "Animalkind" uses some of the lyrics and music of "Oh God, I Saw That Lady's Hair." If you listen to the Haircuts version of the song you can really hear the lyrics. If you listen to the demo/tape club version you can really hear the music. Yep, it was Ray that first pointed it out after he listened to a live recording of "Animalkind." Ray = smartie. ------ More old songs being used: * Lyrics from "Secret Master Plan" can be heard around the 1:33 minute mark of "My Terrible Personality." * And if you jump to the 1:55 minute mark of the tape club version of "Not Worth Fighting" you can hear lyrics used for "In Pairs."

Wait, there is another version of Oh God, I Saw That Lady's Hair? There is something about the album that I just haven't warmed up to. It sounds flat, or the vocals and guitars sound a little muddy when I play it over my speakers, I liked it better through headphones (even though I fell asleep right after Back in the Saddle. Maybe it's the speakers.

The new album is definitely growing on me. At first i thought it was quite a bit heavier than their older stuff. I like old songs like song W and song L and dead right because they're really mellow. Let it sway seems to have a bit more of an edge and swagger, which I found hard to get used to. In all tho it's pretty good

Wait, there is another version of Oh God, I Saw That Lady's Hair? It's instrumental only and it's in a slightly different key - maybe a half step higher? Don't remember where I got it - possibly from "crazycstudios". Message me your email address if you want it and I'll send it to you. I guess I could email it to Meghan too and get it up on Tape Club. Phil's always worrying about whether the fans will like their new albums or not. Interesting, pretty long interview and article: www.scholarsandrogues.com/2010/07/20/someone-still-loves-you-boris-yeltsin-getting-ready-to-let-it-sway/

I think that's one of the best stories I've read on them. And I particularly like this line from Phil: "We play music that’s already in your head."
On the record:
When I read the lyrics to "In Pairs" I thought it was going to be a slow-burning kind of song.
At this moment, I think my favorite songs are the first 3, Everlyn, and Made to Last (John's voice sounds really pretty on this one for me, plus it sounds like an old song you hear on Sunday afternoon radio haha). All Hail Dracula! is really fun to sing along to, though.

I love listening to Phantomwise and Made to Last on repeat. Same with bonus track "Bended."

Favorites: Critical Drain, All Hail Dracula! Stuart, basically the second half of the record.
Except Phantomwise. I don't really like the first minute or so.
