I am told by a reliable source that "You Could Write a Book" will be as well, and that stylistically many of the songs will sound similar to "Lower the Gas Prices, Howard Johnson."

when i saw them play at the black cat they played a few new songs, about 3 i guess. they didnt say the names, but i got videoes of 2 and drew told me one of the songs was called "The Oceanographer" also not sure if modern mystery was also considered part of the group of songs when they mentioned the new album in the fall.

I'm just guessing here but...
Definitely Maybe On The Album: Bigger Than Yr Yard Modern Mystery Lower The Gas Prices, Howard Johnson Deadright
There's A Chance: April 10 Glue Girls Boring Fountain Kittens With Casts It's Not Worth Fighting The Oceanographer Rachel Lara Honey Baby You Could Write A Book (this was on the Gwyn & Grace EP, but they seem to play it a lot still) Maybe something else from EPs already released.
I'm sure there will be some brand new songs that haven't been recorded at all.

I'm just guessing here but... Definitely Maybe On The Album: ... Lower The Gas Prices, Howard Johnson ... Cool. That's my favorite song from them. I bought that Polyvinyl sampler just for that (granted the sampler was, like, three dollars).

In columbus they played a new song called "Half-Awake" I guess it's safe to assume that'll be on the new album.

After talking to Will last night, it appears the band already has a third album in mind. They have about 30 songs they're considering for the new album, the best of which will be chosen for it, while they want to set aside a handful of good songs from that 30 and put them towards a third album. Kinda like a Radiohead Kid A/Amnesiac thing. At this point, it's safe to assume that the following will be on the next album: Modern Mystery, Bigger Than Yr Yard, The Oceanographer, You Could Write a Book...and um I can't really think of anything else at the moment.
Oh, and a funny note: Will, Phil, and I the other night, while talking, got on the topic of Harry Potter. Will and I had read all the books so far and Phil was only on the fourth book. At that point Will said something to the effect of, "You're at the point where the mood of the books totally changes...the first three were happy, and the rest get really dark...kind of like the difference between Broom and the new album." I'm not really sure what that means, but we all had a good laugh and I didn't really ask him for any more details. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

i love how you just somehow got on the topic of harry potter, but that is an awesome analogy, im kinda curious about the other potential songs because bigger than yr yard and modern mystery still seem to be err early-harry-potteresque?

I figured I'd throw this up here having just seen the news and relating to new release: "Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin have a new 7-inch coming out May 8th; it's "Not Worth Fighting" b/w "Half-Awake (Deb)." Here's one of the tracks, it's positively Pinbacky: ::: SSLYBY - Half Awake (Deb) ::: " This was retrieved from Ryan at The Catbirdseat.

Wow, "It's Not Worth Fighting" was a Phil-posted live track way back when on the official site. How cool that it's getting a new life.
I love "Half Awake," though it sounds pretty much nothing like the SSLYBY I knew.

I figured Here's one of the tracks, it's positively Pinbacky: maybe a bit too much (don't like it, don't like pinback). well its like a b-side i suppose. it don't even rattle my excitement for the new album.

oh hey there everybody...long time no see. just so y'all know, the new album is totally done and will be released in march. sadly, i, nor anyone outside the band and their familes (under instruction of their press guy) knows anything for certain about the album right now. however i can say, after talking to phil, that everyone who has heard it thinks it's better than broom. so we should all be very very excited.

And I don't toss that title around lightly. The only other album to receive it was Figure 8 by Elliott Smith.

I have created a Wikipedia Article for the album. Feel free to add things to it as it becomes known, such as producers, album art, and things of that nature.
